About Inclusive Movement & Nutrition Ireland

Transforming movement and nutrition in Ireland through inclusive, evidence-based practice

Why IMNI?

The landscape of movement and nutrition in Ireland is changing, but the challenges we face are significant. Research shows that pressure to lose weight from family members and media during teenage years creates internalised weight stigma that can persist for at least 20 years. In today’s digital age, teenagers have unprecedented 24/7 exposure to unregulated diet and weight loss content across social media platforms, amplifying these harmful messages. This constant exposure to diet culture shapes how entire generations view their bodies, creating cycles of shame, restriction, and harm that can last a lifetime.

We recognised an urgent need to transform how movement and nutrition in Ireland is approached and delivered. We aim to bring together qualified practitioners who practise beyond weight-centric approaches, offering evidence-based care that celebrates rather than restricts.

For service users, IMNI aims to provide a trusted resource to find professionals who will respect their body, honour their experiences, and support their wellbeing without focusing on weight loss. We understand the courage it takes to seek support in a world dominated by diet culture, and we’re here to make that journey easier.

For practitioners revolutionising movement and nutrition in Ireland, we offer a community of like-minded professionals committed to inclusive, weight-neutral approaches. Together, we’re building a network that supports both practitioners and clients in breaking free from restrictive practises and embracing evidence-based, inclusive care.

Our mission extends beyond connecting clients and practitioners. We’re working to actively counter the impact of unregulated diet culture and social media messaging, particularly on young people. By creating spaces where all bodies are respected and all movements are celebrated, we aim to break the cycle of internalised weight stigma and promote a future where health is understood as far more than a number on the scales. Through our network of qualified professionals, we’re building supportive environments where the next generation can develop a healthier relationship with their bodies, free from the pressure to conform to restrictive ideals.
